Everyone has the ability to learn but we all learn in different ways.
Whether you’re a new learner or picking up after a break, knowing and understanding your learning style will highlight ways in which you receive and process information.
A learning style is a specific way of learning. YOUR learning style is the way in which YOU learn best. Three major learning styles that have been identified in students are AUDITORY, VISUAL and TACTILE/KIINESTHETIC.
Your learning style is based on four basic categories that connect in various ways. You will discover that you have qualities in all of the categories, but you will learn the traits that represent your primary learning style.
The 4 Categories of Learning are:
- Perceiving – Taking in information
- Ordering – Using the information you perceive
- Remembering
- Understanding.
It is important not to label yourself but consider your dominant learning style as an advantage that will assist you in overcoming any difficulties you may face in learning, memory, and understanding information.
Are you an Auditory Learner?
Auditory Learners learn best when material is offered in an auditory language setup. Do you seem to learn best in classes with lectures and discussions? Does listening to podcasts and audio material help you learn better? Do you find yourself reading aloud or talking things out to gain better understanding? If YES, you are probably an Auditory Learner.
Are you a Visual Learner?
Visual Learners learn best when material is offered in a written language format or other visual mediums such as diagrams and pictures. Do you seem to learn best in classes with whiteboards, handouts and projectors? Do you remember information by creating pictures in your mind? Do you take detailed notes from textbooks and from class? If YES, you are probably a Visual Learner.
Are you a Tactile/Kinesthetic Learner?
Tactile/Kinesthetic Learners learn best in a hands-on learning environment where they can physically do something to assist in learning about it. Do you seem to learn best when you can touch, move and handle items. Do you learn better when you have the actual object in your hands rather than a picture of it or a written description of it? If YES, you are probably a Tactile/Kinesthetic Learner.
Your learning style is your strength. Use it whenever you can. Orion’s strength is our trainer’s understanding of these learning styles and where practical adjusting delivery to suit individual learning styles so we can guarantee the ULTIMATE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
