Kickstart your Career as a Childcare Professional
Recently introduced childcare regulations were designed to improve the quality of childcare in Australia, by making sure that all workers now have, or are working towards an industry related qualification.
There’s a variety of exciting career opportunities in the sector, including long day care, after school care, home day care, and nanny, so those who enjoy working with kids, can choose the most appealing role.
A school based or workplace Traineeship is a great way to get started. This allows you to gain essential practical skills and knowledge while you’re completing your study. With the guidance and support of your trainer, a certificate III traineeship will take about 12 months to complete. Once finished, you’ll be fully qualified and have the necessary hands on experience needed to advance in your career.
Did you know that you can immediately start applying for jobs as long as you’re enrolled in Early Childhood Education and Care, and are actively working toward getting qualified?
Existing childcare workers looking to progress in their career, gain more responsibility or increase their income, may be considered for a higher position as long as they’re working toward completing their diploma qualification. This is the minimum education level required to be a group leader, and may provide an opportunity to progress to a higher position within the workplace.
Due to our expanding population, the need for mums to return to the workforce, and the increased number of new centres required to cater to the growing demand of the community, it’s expected that the need for childcare professionals will continue to rise significantly over the coming years.
A career in this booming industry can bring great satisfaction and fulfilment to the right person. If you enjoy working with kids, this could be the perfect career choice…do what you enjoy, contribute to the development children, and build meaningful relationships with them, their families and the community.
