Busy People Need Keyboard Shortcuts

, , ,

When you are busy or even just new to the training/study world, you will soon come to realise that time is not on your side. Some of you (or all of you) may know some or most of these but it is always good to be reminded of those shortcuts that can save a little time which can make a big different.

If you have a Windows computer you will use the CTRL key. Some should also work on Apple devices when you replace the CTRL key with the COMMAND button.

Ctrl + Shift + A = All Caps (like Caps Lock without pressing Caps Lock)

Ctrl + B = Bold (turns highlighted text Bold)

Ctrl + I = Italics (turns highlighted text into Italics)

Ctrl + U = Underline (puts an underline under highlighted text)

Ctrl + Shift + D = Double Underline

Esc = Cancel an action

Ctrl + C = Copy a piece of text without removing it

Ctrl + V = Paste a piece of text that you’ve cut or copied

Ctrl + X = Cut a piece of text, removing from it’s current position

Ctrl + Z = Undo, the best shortcut you’ll ever learn

Ctrl + Y = Redo – the opposite of undo

Ctrl + A = Select/highlight all text in a document

Ctrl + Shift + F = open the Font selection box

Alt + Ctrl + H = Highlight

Ctrl + K = opens Hyperlink selection box

Alt + Ctrl + M = Insert a comment

Ctrl + P = Print

Ctrl + S = Save

Ctrl + F = opens the Find option in any category

Ctrl + H = opens your History

Ctrl + W = closes the current tab in your browser quickly

Ctrl + T = opens a new tab in internet browser

Ctrl + Shift + T = re-opens your last closed tab

Alt + Prnt Scrn = takes a Screen Shot of current window

Prnt Scrn = takes a Screen Shot of entire screen

Windows Key + M = Minimises all open windows

Windows Key + L = Locks your computer

Ctrl + F5 = Clears Cache and refreshes current tab

Become proficient with a few of these shortcuts and you’ll begin to save yourself more time than you might think possible (plus a lot of fiddly mouse-click frustration).
